Dental Insurance FAQ’s

Do you accept my dental insurance plans?

Accept and participate are two different things; We are a participating provider for several dental plan networks. Please call our office with your specific plan information as our network status is updated monthly. We do however, accept assignment of benefits from almost every dental insurance plan as a non-participating provider.

We can help you get the most from your dental insurance benefits while still providing you with a high level of dental care. Prior to your appointment, we will get comprehensive insurance benefit information so that you only need to pay your co-insurance at the time of the appointment.

What is co-insurance?

The way many dental insurance plans work, the patient is responsible for paying the full cost of care up to the deductible before co-insurance kicks in. Co-insurance is a percentage of dental care that the patient is responsible for after the deductible is met. For example, someone with 80-20 co-insurance would be responsible for 20-percent of the dental care costs.

What is covered by dental insurance?

Several dental insurance plans are geared towards preventive care, paying for all or most of the cost of preventive care services such as dental cleanings, oral examinations and x-rays. Some dental insurance plans also have benefits for other services which are generally grouped in categories; basic services (periodontics, fillings, extractions, root canal therapy, etc.), major restorative services (crowns, bridgework, dentures, etc.) and orthodontics.

Before your appointment, our staff will get comprehensive insurance benefit information so you know exactly what to expect at the time of your treatment. Our office is not responsible for and can make no guarantees as to the coverage your dental insurance will provide. As the patient, it is ultimately your responsibility to know your dental insurance benefits and you are responsible for all charges. You are responsible for providing us with current and accurate insurance information.
